Relax, Explore, and Reconnect with the Nature

How to hang a hammock

Swinging gently between two trees is one of the best ways to relax in nature.

But doing it safely and comfortably requires proper setup. Here’s a quick visual guide to hang your hammock like a pro:

1. Choose the Right Distance

• Find two strong, healthy trees about 13 to 16 feet (4 to 5 meters) apart.
• Avoid dead trees or trees with loose bark.

2. Use Tree-Friendly Straps

• Always use wide webbing straps (at least 1 inch wide) instead of rope to protect the bark and avoid damaging the tree.
• Wrap straps around each tree at about head height (5–6 feet / 1.5–1.8 meters).

3. Set a 30-Degree Hang Angle

• Your suspension should form an angle of approximately 30 degrees between the strap and the ground.
• This angle provides the perfect balance between comfort and tension.

**Refer to image: this is the ideal hammock angle for your spine and safety.

 4. Hang It Chair-Height Off the Ground

• The lowest point of the hammock (when you sit in it) should be 18 inches (45 cm) above the ground — about the height of a standard chair.
• This allows for easy entry and exit.

🦟 5. Don’t Forget Bug Protection

• If you’re sleeping overnight, use a bug net or a hammock with an integrated mosquito cover.
• For rain, add a rain fly or tarp above your hammock.

Don’t just pick the cheapest or prettiest. Think about your needs, your adventure style, and your weather conditions.
